Frequently Asked Questions about plastic surgery:

Will my insurance pay for breast implants?

A. No, insurance companies will not pay for plastic surgerythat is purely cosmetic. If you have a physical deformity, such as having one breast larger than the other, if you have had trauma to the chest which requires plastic surgery, or if you are a mastectomy patient, your insurance will help pay for the cost.

Is liposuction a reasonable treatment for obesity?

A. Liposuction is not a good treatment of obesity. Liposuction is not effective for people who are unable to lose weight by dieting and exercise. Obese patients almost always regain the weight that is removed by liposuction unless there is a dramatic reduction in calorie intake or increase in exercise. In addition, large volume liposuction can result in an increase in surgical complications.

On the other hand, liposuction in an obese person is reasonable when the goal is to improve a troublesome body contour area. It is not reasonable to use liposuction as a surgical technique for weight loss.

How long does a Botox Cosmetic treatment take, and how long do results last?

A. After a consultation with your plastic surgeon to see if Botox Cosmetic is right for you, the cosmetic procedure takes about 15 minutes. Results can be seen within 24-48 hours and the effect can last up to four months: however, individual results may vary.
